December and Solar Panels.

I don't know about the weather where you live, but it's mid December in Leicester and it looks like it's a brighter month. I'm secretly relieved that the forecasters are now downgrading their predictions for a white Christmas. It looks fantastic out of the window, but the covering of snow flakes on the PV panels plays havoc with the ouput figures......

The graph of my monthly "average" hourly output, shows that the days are starting later and ending sooner, but during that all important 11:00 - 15:00 period the sun has been shining brighter. I never thought I would think that "Cold & Clear" would be a good thing, but it's infinitely better than "Wet & Warm" once you have PV panels on the roof.

I'd be interested in how the sun has shone for you this month?

  1. Our panels were installed mid-October, we had more power generated that half-month (90kWh) than in the whole of November (70Kwh). December has been pretty dismal as I would expect (22Kwh in 3 weeks). But then we are in Manchester...
